The meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m.

B. Glavin, Chief Operating Officer, presented Committee with an update on the current and projected activities planned throughout the service area:

  • Engineering - The following have been posted: the RFP for Transportation Study, which is being done jointly with the County on west side of City; and the Tender for Local Road Rehabilitation, includes sites in Avondale and Mountview.  
  • Facilities - The RFP for the Engineering Services Solar Project closes February 24. The scope of work has been finalized for the Eastlink Sound Attenuation Project.
  • Transportation - The third snow event is wrapping up, with residential to be complete tomorrow. Crews will be focused on removing residential cul-de-sac piles to prepare for future snowfalls. Potholing and drainage is underway during the mild weather. 

K. DeVries, Parks Director, presented Committee with information regarding boulevard mowing and naturalization within the City. The recommended mowing and naturalization options will enable Administration to execute actions on controlling broadleaf weeds along arterial boulevards.

    Committee recommend Council: 

    1. Direct Administration to proceed with weekly mowing of arterial boulevards by reallocating resources from fall operations to early summer; and

    2. Direct Administration to proceed with the Boulevard Naturalization Pilot Program as presented.
