The meeting was called to order at 10:29 a.m.

C. Manuel, Protective & Social Services Director, presented Committee with an update on the current and projected activities planned throughout the service area:

  • Community Social Development - The Women of Influence Event held on March 5 was well attended with over 200 attendees. Administration is participating in a panel discussion on Unconscious Bias on March 21 in a free virtual event at 2:30 p.m. This event is in partnership with GPLIP on the International Day for the Elimination of Racism and Discrimination. The Government of Alberta has extended funding to support the Hotel Isolation Program until September 2021. 
  • Enforcement Services - Administration is developing and finalizing a formal agreement between the City and County to manage and operate the Regional Animal Care Facility. The tow company contract for the City and RCMP is closing soon and the RFP review process will begin next week. 
  • Emergency Management (GPREP) - Administration will be taking a recommendation forward to the GPREP Agency to use Office 365 to develop an Emergency Coordination Centre software tool. 
  • Fire Department - In March of each year, every Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus is flow tested to ensure full functionality. 
  • RCMP - The RCMP's Annual Performance Plan meeting, with community stakeholders, is scheduled via Zoom for March 23.

C. Manuel, Protective & Social Services Director, presented Committee with an Affordable Housing Action Plan. This Plan will provide immediate support to struggling residents, leverage existing assets, seize funding opportunities, and prepare for the future. Adopting a long-term multi-faceted strategy is still necessary and will be a focus for Administration.
